Map of Central America
It seems that some of you are confused as to where Honduras is. Feel free to study this map and decrease your ignorance of world geography. I live a little southeast of the town of Copan on the western side of Honduras.

Leaving Lago de Atitlan and Santa Cruz, but not that one

im sitting at an Internet place in Panajachel, the main city on the Lake Atitlan. ive finished my one week-ish self-guided tour of the towns on the lake (i went to Panajachel, Jaibalito, San Marcos, San Pedro, and Santa Cruz) and just got a ticket for a chicken bus to Antigua for 5 bucks.

Pana is touristy, with lots of Mayan women trying to sell me bread or bracelets or textiles. Jaibalito was beautiful and relaxing. San Marcos was full of holistic healing centers and massage places. It was pretty but after two days it was just too small and too boring for me. San Pedro is backpacker haven, where you can buy weed, coke, acid, or shrooms from people on the street or sometimes from the people that own the hostel you are staying at. As I walk down the street I have been approached too many times with, "Quieres lancha a San Marcos? Santa Cruz? Panajachel? Cocaine?" To which my brain responds, wait, weren't we just talking about boats? "Quiere comprar pan? Pan dulce? Cinco quetzales. Tres por diez. Heroin?" ... What? As im not interested in tripping on acid here, or any of the other things offered to me, i spent the night and left for santa cruz the next morning.

i spent last night in Santa Cruz, and had my most insane guatemala night yet. quite fitting since i was in santa cruz, I think. i stayed at la iguana perdida where there are a bunch of foreigners working. ended up at this 23 year old LA kid's mansion down the lake from my hostel, smoking joints, drinking beer, and watching some boys play craps. it took about 15 minutes of walking in the dark through cornfields and a perilous path along the lake, which included crossing a river and getting my feet muddier than they already were. the kid has a mansion here because he sells real estate, in case you were wondering. it was a good time and after goodnight tequila shots at 1am at the hostel, i went to sleep in my tree house type dorm room, out in the open in the guatemalan jungle. woke up with mucho mas mosquito bites to add to my already extensive collection, but id say it was worth it.
